Eric Chen is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Diploma program with an ARCT Diploma in Piano Performance. He participated in the city-wide 2011 Calgary Kiwanis Festival and received the first place Gold Certificate for the Grade 10 Piano Solo – Classical category. He is currently studying composition under the guidance of esteemed Turkish-Canadian composer Dr. Ilkim Tongur and is preparing for a Licentiate of the Royal Conservatory of Music (LRCM) exam. Eric has taught several hundred piano and music theory students from ages 5 to 60 in the past 14 years. He is an RCM-Certified teacher, with RCM Certifications in ALL Theory and Piano categories under the RCM curriculum. Eric’s piano students averaged 89% on piano exams from 2022 to 2025 YTD, based on 23 piano exams from Levels 2 to 10. All 23 exams scored above national average. From 2011 to 2022, Eric served as senior piano and music theory teacher, head adjudicator, concert band conductor, internal examiner, and onboarding specialist at the United Conservatory of Music.
