About this course
Kinematics, reference frames, and relative motion. Newton's laws of motion, forces and fields. Work and energy. Impulse and momentum. Systems of several particles and rigid bodies. Rotational dynamics. Oscillatory motion. A first course intended primarily for students in the physical sciences and engineering. A familiarity with vector algebra and some understanding of calculus is assumed. An additional problem class of one hour per week is offered with the course. Includes a 3 hour lab in alternate weeks. Previously PHY 1101 and half of PHY 1201. Must register to PHY 1331 if 4U or OAC Physics not completed. Course Component: Discussion Group, Laboratory, Lecture
Prerequisites: OAC or 4U Physics. MAT 1320 or MAT 1321 (preferred) or MAT 1327 or MAT 1330 is corequisite to PHY 1121 . The courses PHY 1121 , PHY 1124 , PHY 1321 , PHY 1331 cannot be combined for units.
